FLORIDA YACHT CLUB

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA

Florida Yacht Club’s Board of Governors engaged ELM | Ervin Lovett Miller to develop a comprehensive master plan to guide the transformation of its historic waterfront campus in anticipation of the Club’s 150th anniversary. The plan established a long-range vision that both preserves the architectural legacy of the 1926 clubhouse and introduces a new generation of amenities to support a vibrant, multigenerational membership.

Improvements were phased to maintain club operations throughout construction. The scope of work included the revitalization of underutilized interior spaces, modernization of dining and event venues, and enhancements to wellness, fitness, and outdoor recreation offerings. The clubhouse was reimagined to include new casual and formal dining experiences, an expanded kitchen, a private bridal suite with a balcony, and upgraded restrooms. Additional enhancements included the reopening of an enclosed patio to create a poolside loggia, upgrades to the traditional bar and dining room, and a new outdoor bar.

Outdoor spaces along the riverfront were elevated through the addition of a resort-style pool with water features, shallow lounging areas, and a two-tiered fountain. A new covered pool pavilion and connected walkway link the pool to the clubhouse and fitness center, improving circulation and enhancing the overall arrival experience. A new riverfront bar provides panoramic views of the marina, river, and downtown skyline.

The wellness and fitness center was expanded with a two-story atrium entry tower, new strength and cardio studios, and modernized locker rooms. A spacious lawn was added for outdoor yoga and fitness classes.

Coming soon, the Tennis Center upgrades will further enhance the Club’s recreation offerings with a new versatile sport court, four new pickleball courts, enhanced hardscaping, and refreshed landscaping—providing members with expanded opportunities for active play and social connection.

Throughout the project, ELM worked closely with Club leadership to balance architectural preservation with modern performance, creating a cohesive and forward-looking member experience that honors tradition while embracing the future.
